Safe Kids South Central Wisconsin

The Safe Kids South Central Wisconsin coalition formed in February 1999 and is led by American Family Children's Hospital.  The coalition serves Dane, Green and Jefferson counties.

The coalition focuses on:

• Child Passenger Safety
  • 3 to 4 car seat check events held each month throughout Dane County
  • Coordinates multiple Child Passenger Safety Technician Courses each year
  • Car seat sales and installation (Safety Center)
  • Distracted driving presentations in schools
  • Education/booth at safety fairs

• Fire/Burn Prevention
  • Smoke and CO alarm sales and education (Safety Center)
  • Education and community outreach provided by the UW Health Burn Unit
• Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety
  • Helmet sales and fittings (Safety Center)
  • Bicycle and pedestrian safety presentations in schools
  • Assist with bike rodeos throughout Dane County
  • Helmet fittings offered at community events
  • Be Safe, Be Seen on Halloween
  • Education/booth at safety fairs
• Home Safety
  • Gun lock demonstrations and safe storage education
  • Safe Sleep Sabbath
  • Pack n Play distribution
  • Hom safety product sales and education (Safety Center)
  • Medication safety and poision prevention presentations in schools
  • Education/booth at safety fairs
• Water Safety
  • Life jacket loaner station (coming soon)
  • Life jacket sales and education (Safety Center)
  • Education/booth at safety fairs
• Safety Saturday at the Capital in June.
