Safe Kids Wood & Clark County

The Safe Kids Wood & Clark County coalition formed in 2006 and expand into Clark county in 2021. The coalition is led by Marshfield Medical Center.

The coalition focuses on:

Child passenger safety
- Monthly car seat checks in Marshfield, Neillsville and Wisconsin Rapids
- Education/booth at Child Developmental Day and health fairs
- Car seat rental program
- Never Leave Your Child Alone hyperthermia yard signs
Fire/burn
- Fired up for Safety event in October in Marshfield
- Safety City Wisconsin Rapids and Safety City in Marshfield both work on fire safety
Home safety
- Both Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids Safety City work on home safety to include poisoning, personal safety (knowing how to call 911, knowing your phone number, address etc)
- We also plan to have the medicine and other potentially hazardous items along with their look alikes at the Fair this summer
- Cribs for kids program (provides pack and plays to needy families and also education on safe sleep. They also receive fitted crib sheets and wearable blanket
Pedestrian / wheel safety
- Bike/helmet safety is addressed at both Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids Safety City
- Education booth at Children’s festivals in Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield
- Bike helmet fitting and sales at a reduced rate at elementary schools in Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield and Clark County
- Educational booths at child developmental days and Wisconsin Rapids farmer's market
- Health fairs
- Caught Being Safe in Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield and Clark County
Water Safety
- Addressed at both the Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids Safety City
- Life jacket loaner boards in Wisconsin Rapids and Clark County
